I wasn’t able to attend the Friday Night Lights scrimmage, but the Atlanta Falcons’ Twitter page provided updates.
Apparently, defensive end Lawrence Sidbury shined. He sacked backup quarterback Chris Redman on the first play of the scrimmage’s second half and again on a third down situation. There’s been speculation of Sidbury flourishing in defensive coordinator Mike Nolan’s scheme. If we’re putting a lot of stock into the scrimmage, that speculation could prove to be true.
Newly acquired cornerback Asante Samuel did what he does best: he intercepted a pass from quarterback Matt Ryan intended for wide receiver Julio Jones and took it to the house.
Another highlight of the night was a deep bomb from Ryan to wide receiver Roddy White.
Again, it’s only a scrimmage, but it’s nice to see members of the team performing well.
