Falcons Can Clinch First-Round Bye, Home-Field Advantage Sunday

The Atlanta Falcons have already won the NFC South, but they can clinch a first-round bye in the playoffs along with home-field advantage throughout on Sunday.

At 11-1, the Falcons have a three and a half game lead over the next team in the 8-3-1 San Francisco 49ers. The Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears both have an 8-4 record, and the New York Giants are sitting at 7-5.

If Atlanta wins and all four of those teams lose tomorrow, the Falcons would clinch the top seed in the playoffs.

The Falcons could clinch a first-round bye – but not home-field advantage throughout the playoffs – if they win tomorrow along with:

  • San Francisco loss, Green Bay loss (or tie), Giants loss (or tie).
  • San Francisco loss, Green Bay loss (or tie), Chicago loss (or tie).
  • San Francisco loss, Giants loss (or tie),  Chicago loss (or tie).
  • Green Bay loss (or tie), Chicago loss (or tie), Giants loss (or tie).
