After the tumultuous 2013 season, the Atlanta Falcons have announced the firings of offensive line coaches Paul Dunn and Pat Hill, and defensive line coach Ray Hamilton.

With how abysmally both lines performed all season, this news comes as no surprise. It also means the Falcons are being brutally honest with themselves with evaluating where the current organization is and ultimately where it needs to be.

The Atlanta Falcons came up short in their attempt to send Tony Gonzalez off with a win as they fell 21-20 to the Carolina Panthers.

Allowing Matt Ryan to be sacked nine times – four times by defensive end Greg Hardy, who posted a Panthers team single-game record – isn’t exactly a recipe for earning a victory.

While the Atlanta Falcons have long been eliminated from playoff contention, they can still play spoiler when they host the Carolina Panthers in the final game of the 2013 regular season.

The Panthers are headed to the playoffs for the first time since 2008, which is also the last time Carolina won the NFC South.

The Atlanta Falcons could’ve just rolled over and given the San Francisco 49ers an easy victory in the last regular season game in Candlestick Park.

Instead, the Falcons put up a valiant fight – something that had been lacking for the majority of the season – in the 34-24 loss.

With 1:10 remaining in the game, NaVorro Bowman returned an interception 89 yards for a touchdown to secure the win for the 49ers.

In what will be the last game in Candlestick Park, the Atlanta Falcons travel out to the west coast to take on the San Francisco 49ers in a rematch of last season’s NFC championship game.

San Francisco advanced to the Super Bowl after battling back from a 17-0 deficit at one point to win the game 28-24.

The Atlanta Falcons managed to force seven turnovers versus the Kirk Cousins-led Washington Redskins, but only won by a score of 27-26.

A comeback by the Redskins was halted after rookie cornerback Desmond Trufant deflected Cousin’s pass intended for Pierre Garcon on a two-point conversion attempt with :22 left in the game.

Falcons Blow Double-Digit Lead in 22-21 Loss to Packers

Despite having a 21-10 lead heading into halftime, the Atlanta Falcons failed to score in the second half and lost 22-21 to the Green Bay Packers in Lambeau Field.

With :32 remaining in the first half, Falcons linebacker Sean Weatherspoon intercepted a Matt Flynn pass that was deflected off Paul Worrilow’s foot and rumbled 71 yards for the touchdown.

It took the Atlanta Falcons going to Toronto, Canada to notch their first road win of the season over the Buffalo Bills.

It also took overtime as the Falcons defeated the Bills 34-31.
