After losing Sam Baker in preseason, the Atlanta Falcons lose two more starting offensive linemen: center Joe Hawley and right tackle Lamar Holmes.
Additionally, William Moore was placed on short-term injured reserve.
The injuries make the 41-28 loss to the Minnesota Vikings that much worse.
Peter Konz will likely be given the first chance to take over for Hawley. Konz has struggled since being drafted in the second round (55th overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft, but perhaps offensive line coach Mike Tice can get him playing to his draft status.
Gabe Carimi should replace Holmes. Carimi seemed like a marginal signing back in February, but the veteran has proved to be valuable with his versatility to play across the line. He’s already started two games and played in all four.
Second-year player Kemal Ishmael will take over for Moore. Like Carimi, Ishmael has seen his fair share of game action. He returned an interception 22 yards for a touchdown against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 3,
If Konz and Carimi struggle on the offensive line, it could be shades of 2013.
