The Atlanta Falcons were awarded three compensatory draft picks for the 2014 NFL Draft: a fourth-rounder and two seventh-rounders.

The Falcons were given the extra draft picks based on last season’s free agent loses: cornerbacks Brent Grimes (Miami Dolphins) and Chris Owens (Cleveland Browns), tackle Will Svitek (New England Patriots), and defensive tackle Vance Walker (Oakland Raiders).

As it stands now, the Falcons have 10 picks in the upcoming draft.

Julio Jones, Sean Weatherspoon Listed as Questionable

The Atlanta Falcons Piedmont Healthcare Injury Report published on Friday lists Julio Jones and Sean Weatherspon as questionable for Sunday’s game versus the Arizona Cardinals. However, the two players haven’t practiced all week; it’s rare for a player not to practice all week and play in the game.

Also listed as questionable: John Abraham, Michael Turner, and Vance Walker.

Jonathan Babineaux, Harry Douglas, Tony Gonzalez, Stephen Nicholas, and Mike Peterson are all probable.

Kevin Cone and Charles Mitchell are listed as out for Sunday’s contest.

Something needs to be done quickly because these games are quickly becoming unwatchable. Both teams were screwed several times by abysmal calls; if the NFL cares about the integrity of the game, the original officials will be back in Week 3.

For God’s sake, the first quarter lasted for ONE HOUR.

All Quiet on the Falcon Front

The Atlanta Falcons have been extremely quiet this free agency period. They have signed guard Vince Manuwai and middle linebacker Lofa Tatupu, formerly of the Jacksonville Jaguars and Seattle Seahawks, respectively. In addition to these signings, they have brought back rotational defensive end Kroy Biermann, starting free safety Thomas DeCoud, slot receiver Harry Douglas, backup quarterback Chris Redman, backup running back Jason Snelling, and rotational defensive tackle Vance Walker.

They put the franchise tag on Brent Grimes (which he has no plans to sign). Backup tight end Michael Palmer and backup running back Antone Smith were also signed.
