The Atlanta Falcons haven’t won an outdoors road game since defeating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 24-23 on November 25, 2012.

That losing streak was extended with last Sunday’s 41-28 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

This Sunday, the Falcons (2-2) go on the road once again to face the New York Giants, a team that has won two games in a row.

On paper, the Atlanta Falcons defense looked to be in for another huge day following the blowout win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Minnesota Vikings were starting a rookie quarterback and were without Adrian Peterson and tight end Kyle Rudolph. Heading into the game, Minnesota had one of the league’s worst offenses.

Matt Ryan couldn’t be stopped.

The quarterback piled up 448 yards through the air – breaking the previous single-game franchise record for yards set by Chris Chandler at 431 in 2001  – and led the Atlanta Falcons to a 37-34 overtime victory over the New Orleans Saints in an NFC South matchup. Ryan’s three scores passed set him atop the Falcons’ mark for career touchdown passes, passing Steve Bartkowski’s 154.

Hard Knocks with the Atlanta Falcons: Episode 1 Recap

Last night’s premiere of Hard Knocks with the Atlanta Falcons was a doozy. After just one episode, I’m now convinced bringing the cameras to training camp was a good decision.

The show on its own is brilliant as it’s always nice to get a behind-the-scenes look at an NFL team’s training camp. Of course, Hard Knocks’ brilliance was amplified by the fact it’s featuring the Falcons.

The Atlanta Falcons’ 31-23 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ended a three-game skid, including two consecutive home losses.

The Falcons had to lean heavily on Matt Ryan, and with wide receivers Julio Jones and Roddy White ailing, it was up to Harry Douglas to take on the role as the number one option in the passing game.

Atlanta Falcons safety William Moore was arrested on a battery charge Thursday night, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta.

Well, this is certainly news the Falcons could do without. The team has declined to comment until all the details surrounding the situation are released, but they can’t be happy.

Moore signed a five-year extension worth $30 million with the Falcons in March. He was selected to his first Pro Bowl this past season.

Garrett Reynolds Re-Signed for Two Years

Along with re-signing strong safety William Moore yesterday, the Atlanta Falcons also re-signed right guard Garrett Reynolds.

Reynolds opened last season as the starter at right guard before being placed on injured reserve with a lower back injury. Rookie Peter Konz then took over at right guard.

Before going down, Reynolds played well. I would assume his re-signing means the Falcons are indeed moving Konz to his natural position at center. Last season’s starter at center and long-time Falcon Todd McClure will be a backup if he’s re-signed.

Falcons Retain William Moore for Five Years

The Atlanta Falcons have agreed to terms with strong safety William Moore on a five-year deal, according to Adam Schefter.

Moore has emerged as one of the better safeties in the NFL. He was voted to the Pro Bowl last season after totaling 75 tackles, one sack, two forced fumbles, and four interceptions. Paired with free safety Thomas DeCoud (who was also voted to the Pro Bowl), the two combine to make one of the best safety tandems in the NFL.

Moore was drafted by the Falcons in the second round (55th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft. His rookie year was marred with injury, but after becoming a full-time starter in 2010, he showed what he was capable of.

For his career, Moore has 203 tackles, 1.5 sacks, five forced fumbles, and 11 interceptions.

Falcons Release Three Big-Name Veterans

The Atlanta Falcons have released defensive end John Abraham, cornerback Dunta Robinson, and running back Michael Turner.

The Falcons traded with the New York Jets for Abraham in 2006. He was originally selected by the Jets with the 13th pick in the 2000 NFL Draft. The defensive end played seven seasons with Atlanta, and he notched 68.5 sacks. He had a career-high of 16.5 sacks in 2008. Last season, he had 10 sacks.
